Daphne finally retired from paid work in 2002. This did not though stop her working, as she continued voluntary work at Jewish Day Care Program at The Stepney Jewish Club for The Elderly. Even in her seventies she still wanted to learn more and she took courses on caring for alzheimer and dementia patients, helping her in her work. In November 2002, Raymond moved to Philippines, which meant visiting for nearly 2 months each year away from the cold of the English winter. The following day after arriving in December 2004, she suffered a heart attack and spent the first two weeks of her holiday at The Asian Hospital, Alabang. This though did not deter her from further visits and continued to visit annually leaving for the last time in February 2009. For her eightieth birthday she fulfilled another dream by visiting her cousins. Josie, Marlene and Phyllis in New York and returning to London on the Queen Mary 2, Ocean Liner.
